Appleseed Children’s Choir Festival

Josh Pedde, Indianapolis Children's Choir Assistant Artistic DirectorWhat is it?
The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir is proud to host its first-ever APPLESEED CHILDREN'S CHOIR FESTIVAL for Young Voices, May 3-5, 2013! This is a fantastic event designed specifically for your younger choirs. As we all know, there are many festivals for the older treble choir. One can take an advanced children’s choir quite literally around the world to attend such events, but how do we prepare our singers for such an experience? One answer is to get their feet wet by doing a similar, but shorter, trip geared just for them while they are in the slightly younger ensembles. The APPLESEED CHILDREN’S CHOIR FESTIVAL for Young Voices is just that event.

Clinician
Musically, this Festival promises to be enriching, educational, and rewarding. Our clinician is JOSH PEDDE, assistant artistic director with the Indianapolis Children's Choir. He  has graciously agreed to help us launch the festival, and we can’t be more honored to be able to include him. Mr. Pedde will choose music specifically for the younger ensembles, with students in approximately grades 5-7, for an inspiring mass choir experience. In addition, ensembles may choose to perform in the final concert for the entire audience. Fort Wayne is also blessed with many wonderful churches, and ensembles will have the option to participate in and sing for morning worship on Sunday.

Where?
All rehearsals, as well as the final concert, will be held at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), at the Rhinehart Music Center . Completed in 2007, this state-of-the-art facility was designed specifically for acoustic music. The 1500 seat Auer Performance Hall is a pride of the community, and is a phenomenal place to sing. To learn more about the facility please see IPFW’s website.

Activities!
When we’re not singing, we will have plenty of fun and education activities! Fort Wayne has one of the top 10 children’s zoos in the United States, and we will be sure to spend some time there. In addition, we have a beautiful new facility for  our minor league baseball team, the TinCaps, and we will get to enjoy Parkview Field and hopefully sing the National Anthem for a home game (the 2013 season schedule is not set yet).
