Is my child ready for Preparatory Choir?
Preparatory Choir may be a great fit for your child if they:
- Are curious about singing, music, and making new sounds
- Enjoy learning and trying new things
- Can participate in a group activity and follow simple directions
- Can stay engaged for age-appropriate periods of time
- Are learning to work and interact kindly with other children
Two Ways to Join Preparatory Choir
Families can choose the Preparatory Choir experience that works best for their young singer. No audition or assessment is required for either option.
8-Week Session
A great introduction to singing, music-making, and learning as part of a choir.
- Classes are 45 minutes each week.
- Parents and caregivers are invited to the final class for an informal sharing of what singers have learned.
- Winter, Spring, and Summer sessions will be announced soon.

Dates: September 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2 (Parents invited to watch the last the last class)
WEDNESDAY| 5:30 pm – 6:15 pm — Fort Wayne Children’s Choir

Dates: September 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4 (Parents invited to watch the the last class)
Season-Long Program
Ready for a longer choir experience? The Season-Long Program follows a more sequential curriculum to build their skills, confidence, and musical independence. Singing with the Preparatory Choir for the entire season (September-April) allows your singer to sing alongside the FWCC Performing Ensembles at the Spring Concert in April.

Season Dates: September 15, 2026 – April 25, 2027
- Classes are 45 minutes each week
- Singers build their skills and repertoire throughout the season.
- The season concludes with singers performing as part of the FWCC Spring Concert on Sunday, April 25, 2027.
Please note: Classes are subject to minimum enrollment. If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment, families will be contacted about alternate Preparatory Choir options.

Financial Assistance Available
FWCC never wants financial circumstances to be a barrier to participating in our programs. Sliding-scale financial assistance is available to families who demonstrate need, on a first-come, first-served basis as funds allow.
If you do not need financial assistance, you will pay your registration fee when completing the registration form.
If you would like to apply for financial assistance, please complete the Financial Assistance Application before registering. Once your assistance amount has been determined, you will receive instructions to complete your singer’s registration at the adjusted rate.
Only one Financial Assistance Application per family is needed.
