Shirley Platte


Mrs. Platte is currently organist and accompanist at Good Shepherd United Methodist church, having more than thirty years of music ministry in local churches. She was a music specialist in Fort Wayne Community Schools for nine years and in Southwest Allen schools for nineteen years, where she was coordinator of Circle the State with Song and accompanist for the All State Honors choir. She has served as recorder teacher and accompanist with Music Camp International, making thirteen trips to Ukraine and Romania. Since 1972 she has taught organ and music education courses at Fort Wayne Bible College, Taylor University, Grace College, IPFW, and Huntington University. She has enjoyed volunteering as a docent for the Embassy Theatre, as a mentor at Lutheran South Unity School and an instructor at a biannual Summer Music Workshop. Shirley received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Fort Wayne Bible College, a Masters of Music degree from Ball State University, and is certified in Orff Schulwerk. She and her husband, Jay, have two sons and eleven grandchildren.
